The confidence journey: strengthening girls through education

Loreto College Marryatville Principal, Kylie McCullah, recently shared her thoughts on building confidence in students, particularly girls and young women. She highlighted how confidence empowers girls, enabling them to overcome societal pressures, trust their abilities, take risks, and aim high. This is especially important for engaging in fields like STEM and leadership, where they are historically underrepresented. Kylie believes that a supportive educational environment—fostered by teachers and mentors—helps girls develop a growth mindset, where effort is prioritised over perfection. Educators play a key role in challenging limiting gender roles and nurturing self-belief and ambition. Building confidence is crucial not only for personal growth but also for empowering future female leaders. It’s been another action-packed fortnight at Loreto College Marryatville. We celebrated our fathers, friends, and father figures with a Fathers and Friends Lunch offsite and a Father's Day Breakfast on campus. The Junior School came alive during Book Week, culminating in a vibrant parade. Senior School students made a meaningful impact through acts of service. On the athletics front, Loreto athletes excelled, securing 2nd place in the SACSSGSA A Grade competition and winning three out of four intercol shields.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined us for the Fathers and Friends lunch last Sunday. It was a fantastic day of connection, community, and celebration. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over $22,000 to fund spectator seating at Cotters Green Oval, enhancing both the sporting experience for our girls and the comfort of their supporters.
